Jordin Sparks announced as a Student Ambassador
for People to People Ambassador Program
Sparks Serves as the First-Ever Celebrity Student Ambassador
Los Angeles, CA (May 31, 2011) – It was announced today that Grammy nominated platinum recording artist Jordin Sparks will serve as a Student Ambassador with People to People Ambassador Programs this summer. This announcement marks the first time the organization has used a celebrity student ambassador for the People to People Ambassador Programs.
In her role, Sparks will travel with a lucky delegation of American students during this once-in-a-lifetime trip. Together they will meet local people, try new foods and explore iconic and off-the-wall destinations. Sparks will announce what program and which students she will be traveling with at a later date at www.p2pSparks.com.
“Traveling is the single best investment you can make in yourself! I look forward to this amazing journey/experience and am so thrilled to be sharing the experience with these deserving students,” said Jordin Sparks.
Sparks will be traveling with People to People Ambassador Programs, an organization that has helped over 500,000 students travel to over 40 countries on all seven continents for over 50 years. These students have participated in activities ranging from exclusive stays in Maori meeting houses in New Zealand, to repelling down a castle wall in Assisi, Italy, to homestays with families in Ireland. In addition, each program contains a service component, such as assisting with dolphin research in Moreton Island, Australia; distributing sports equipment to children in Brazil, and reaching out to create community in an elderly home in Scotland.
“Given Jordin’s accomplishments and demonstrated commitment to giving back, we are thrilled to welcome her onto one of our programs,” said Peg Thomas, President of People to People Ambassador Programs. “Her participation will be a great addition and help us as we continue our mission of bridging cultural and political differences to build a better world.”
